Considering the event is named after one of this country’s greatest tunesmiths, it’s hard to argue that this celebratory edition should end any other way, with performers from one end of Canada to the other. Stanfest’s ongoing commitment to showcasing up-and-coming singer-songwriters continued with Sunday’s song swap featuring a quartet of engaging female performers. B.C.’s Hayley Sales might have had to cope with a weekend with no luggage thanks to her airline, but she had no lack of support from her fellow musicians. Her dreamily romantic Kiss You When It Rains received onstage support from bluesman Guy Davis and member of the Danish folk group ZAR to enhance its sense of longing.... | |

For many area residents and visitors the weekend should feature water sports, enjoying the outdoors, patriot parades – and fireworks at some celebrations. |Saturday| Karnack kicks things off today with their "Fourth of July Celebration" at 10:30 a.m. at the Karnack Fire Department/Karnack Community Center. There will be food, fellowship and fun for all at this event, which is a fund-raiser for and hosted by the Karnack Volunteer Fire Department, organizers said.
